CBGBs (movie)

It was with quite a bit of trepidation that I watched this movie but I have to say that it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. Was it historically accurate? Not really... Did the actors looks like the musicians? Really - how could they? They were pretty iconic looking. But the story is essentially true - yes, details are off and songs are wildly of the wrong time - but the actual soundtrack is pretty f'k'ing amazing and that alone is worth something. It makes me wanna pull out all of my 70's NYC punk rock records! Funny little cameos, like the Shirts (because of the singer now appearing in Orange is the New Black?), and nice nods to Punk magazine. Yes, it could have been immensely better, but still, if it makes people go and pick up these records, then that is certainly a good thing! Incidental music by the Flamin' Groovies, Mink Deville, Tuff Darts and more! Not gonna recommend it, necessarily, but pull out your old records and dig the scene anyway!
