The Swamp Gospel and the Implosions at the Huntridge Tavern, Saturday Feb 9, 2019
The Huntridge Tavern is one of our favorite places to hang, watch band and play shows so we set up this night with our pals, the Implosions. Of course, a million other shows ended up happening elsewhere this eve but we still got a nice little crowd down to this intimate venue for our revival.
The Gospel opened the night, as we do, and had a great, if somewhat sloppy, time preachin' the swampy-garage-blues and we seemed to have made some new converts and given our regular congregation a bit of soul salvation. Thank you to Nikki Ruffling for the action shots!
Unfortunately, my post-set spaciness and shots of strychnine meant that I did not take notes during the Implosions super-fun set, but their spate of recent gigs have certainly tightened up the group and made them one of my fave new combos in town. Punk/garage/Cramps-ian sounds back Adrienne's Vegas-themed lyrics, for a unique, stylish concept. Adrienne is a terrific front person who can croon or scream while commanding the stage. Catch 'em when you can!
Thanks again to Kate and the Huntridge for providing a fun, relaxed showcase for locals!
