The Psyatics, the Sheiks of Neptune, Stagnetti's Cock at the Huntridge Tavern, Friday May 3, 2019
The Huntridge Tavern is one of my fave places to hang out, see bands and play shows, so I was excited to gig with this particularly cool line up. Unfortunately, a family emergency kept the Implosions from playing but Stagnetti's Cock stepped in as a last minute closer.
An abbreviated version of the Sheiks of Neptune opened the night (a couple of members couldn't make it) as either the Neptune Sheiks or the Sheik Bastards, depending on what sign you believed. With just two guitars, percussion and their wacky singer, they put on a terrifically fun set to a packed house of friends'n'fans singing along and joining in the antics. It's impossible to describe all the craziness that went on during their short set (the variety of percussion was especially entertaining), but it was probably the favorite time that I've seen them. Great way to start the night!
Initially, the Psyatics were going to play last but we weren't sure when Stagnetti would be able to get there, so we ended up second and also played to a full bar of drunken'n'enthusiastic folks, even my boss! Noisy'n'energetic set with plenty of audience interaction, including Jack'n'myself invading people's personal space and sharing our guitars with them. Mark was particularly fiery this evening and the set ended with a monstrous "Gentlemen of Four Outs" that had us climbing over furniture and giving a cacophony-filled ending that probably lasted as long as the song itself!

Stagnetti's Cock were their usual hard rock/punky selves, with rude jokes and sloppy/great playing! Both Jack and I sat in on their song "Felipe", which then, of course, devolved into a ridiculous jam, as well. The lovely Ivanna impressed everyone with her bass chops as well as her attributes, Joe spat out some hip 70's rock guitar riffs and Bob (hasn't he had several farewell gigs already?) pounded the drums without his prerequisite banana suit, for a change!
The Huntridge is always a good time and this was an especially fine night of wild'n'wooly rock'n'roll merriment. Thank you to Kate and the Huntridge for hosting these musical reprobates! (And again, sorry for the crappy photos - I will start bringing my camera to gigs again!)
