The Swamp Gospel and the All Togethers at the Huntridge Tavern, Saturday Dec 14, 2019

For the last Swamp Gospel revival of the year and decade we returned to our fave dive bar stompin' ground, the intimately inebriated Huntridge Tavern. While multiple other shows and heavy rains might have kept some people away, the bar was pleasantly packed with repentant sinners for the night. We ran through a set of some of our "classic" (hah) tunes, some brand new numbers and a couple of oldies that we pulled out for the night. There was laying-of-hands, strychnine drinkin' (thanks for participating, Nikki!), trips to the swampland, new sermons, bar crawling and guitar sharing. It seemed like we added to our congregation as we closed out the decade. Look for new shows, more new songs'n'sermons, more recordings and plenty of soul salvation in the new year!

(SG live shots by Nikki Ruffling, once again - thanks Nikki!)

Our pals, the All Togethers, were able to join us for the festivities this evening, performing their own brand of alcohol-fueled hillbilly jazz. Led by Ken'n'Cindy on mandolin/banjo and stand-up bass, along with Brenna on stand-up cello and Michael on guitar, they swung through a good portion of their repertoire from their various CD's as well as the odd covers, from "Baba O'Reilly" to a rap medley that merged into their own "Hangover Stomp". Their one rule is that clapping means drinking - a rule that they stand by themselves - which encourages everyone to drink along - never a bad idea for a group playing in a bar - good for the bar and good for audience participation! They joke among themselves throughout, and seem to genuinely be having a good time, which is infectious, as well. Terrific 4 part harmonies really set them apart from most combos in town, and combined with their excellent songs, they are one of our fave groups in Vegas. I'm sure we will be doing more with them in the new year!

Once again, thank you to the Huntridge Tavern and their excellent crew for hosting us and thank you to everyone who made it out this evening and over the years! We will see you in 2020!
