Thee Swank Bastards at Red Dwarf's Sunday Brunch - Sunday 7-6-25

 We like to get out to the Red Dwarf's Sunday Surf Brunch whenever we can, although that's not always too often as the weekend is usually far too short to get everything done. But with the 3 day holiday weekend, we put off some errands and went down to check out Thee Swank Bastards.

Today's version of this surf trio was Jesse (natch), Mark and Eddie (from Generic Surf Band and the New Waves), although, of course, guests sit in regularly. We missed our friend Nikki playing bass earlier but made it in time for bartendress Daisy to rock through their surf-styled Black Sabbath medley (and I seem to think that there were other tunes, but I didn't keep notes). She and Jesse wandered the room, as they are wont to do with their wirelesses and were entertaining as well as rockin'! Jeff Murphy played a couple numbers, as well, before Eddie got his instrument back to close out the day.

Of course, Mark provided the hard driving’, snappy backbeat throughout the proceedings, even after playing their late night set a few hours prior at the Golden Tiki. Mark continues to be one of the best drummers in town and drives both the Bastards when needed as well as the Generic Surf Band (and, at times, other combos, although I think that is all that he is currently handling).

Great food’n’drinks’n’staff (thanks Sara and Daisy!) and a mellow afternoon atmosphere makes the RDSSB the local Sunday destination!
