The Blues Album Cover Art - edited by Graham Marsh and Barrie Lewis
This 12x12 book gives you a nice collection of reproductions of blues album covers, from the famous to the obscure, in the many forms that this genre produced. Some are graphic-oriented, some include terrific portraits of the artists, some have hep paintings/drawings of the performers and some are simply atmospheric photos that the company hoped would portray the mood of the music. As this runs through the years, there are different artistic styles, as well, from modern art to psychedelic, and even comic book art - R. Crumb being one of the most famous examples.
The text is minimal and basic and the book overall lets the artwork speak for itself. Nice stuff which makes you want to search out the records and gives you graphic inspiration, as well. Very cool!
