Chew Volume One: Taster's Choice

 

This is another comic comp I picked up on recommendation from the fine folks at Cemetery Pulp this past weekend and I must say, they did not steer me wrong. This compiles the first 5 chapters of the story of Tony Chu (get it?), a cibopath who gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats - fruits, animals or even humans. This information can be particularly useful in his role as an investigator, providing him with everything from the names of a serial killer's victims to a safe's combination. Of course, it doesn't necessarily help him in a fight or help him get a girl or help him when his partner betrays him.

But he solves cases, travels the world, becomes involved in international conspiracies, vampires, (possibly) aliens, and so much more all just in volume one! I really enjoyed the writing and the sort or wacky artwork - enough that I already found the next couple of volumes and ordered them! So, more to follow! This is a good one - check it out!
