RIP Poly Styrene

Far too young.

X-ray Spex were one of the best of the early wave of British punk bands and comparatively unique in their use of saxophone as a punk instrument (well before the NY No-Wave scene). Poly was a teenage girl fronting a punk band and writing her own material. Definitely a true role model. She is missed...

Get Yer Ya-Yas Out - 40th anniversary edition

Finally got a good deal on this 40th anniversary edition of the classic Rolling Stones live record. This set contains 3 CDs and a DVD, as well as a beautiful, hard-cover booklet and a card-sized version of the tour poster that these recordings were taken from. One CD is the original LP, of course, one contains a handful of unreleased tunes ("Prodigal Son", "You Go to Move", "Under My Thumb"/"I'm Free" medley and "Satisfaction") and one contains tunes from BB King's & Ike & Tina Turner's sets. Cool stuff all, but it seems like there should be more than this. The DVD contains the same unreleased tunes as the CD - again, seems like there could have been tons more. But, not complaining - great set, great sound, love BB's & I&T's sets and the packaging is excellent. Worth it if you can get it discounted - not quite sure about the full list price of $51.49.
