Friday September 6th - Double Down - Joe’s Birthday Bash with Stagnetti’s Cock and Dead Dolls by Nikki Ruffling

 Friday marked the birthday of Joe Matkowsky Shrine and what better way to celebrate than a birthday show at Double Down Saloon? On the bill was Stagnetti’s Cock, Dead Dolls and an acoustic set from Skeleton Crew. First up was Stagnetti’s Cock. The Cock always brings the tongue-in-cheek punk rock to any show they perform. Headed up by Joe, Ivana Blaize on bass and tonight they had Erick Duckro on drums. Tonight was a packed house with everybody there to celebrate Joe. The band started out with one of their popular songs, “nuns having fun“ and then powered through a 45 minute set including another one of their favorites “Felipe“. The crowd had a good time and the band had a good time interacting with the crowd and doing shots along the way. Stagnetti’s is never boring. They head out on their mini tour with The Psyatics this coming October and hitting the East Coast with a vengeance.

 Up next was The DeadDolls. Fronted by Dirk Vermin of the Vermin, it features Joe again on guitar, Eric on drums and Tim Roche on bass. This is a punk rock cover band extravaganza that has you rocking out to all the tunes you know and love. The DeadDolls are a tight knit musical band, hitting their marks and interacting with the crowd. They do amazing covers of FEAR, The Misfits, The Damned, The Cramps, Dead Boys and many more. They make it fun and fresh and take you back to the times you love. Playing more and more shows, The DeadDolls will be playing yours truly’s birthday show September 28th at the Double Down. Sadly, I had to head out before I got to hear the acoustic set of Skeleton Crew, but reports from my friends who stayed said they were amazing as well. It was another great weekend night at Double Down!
